One of my favorite friendship bracelet patterns is the ombre. I’ve used it so many times for colors, but I thought I would try shades of black and white this time. I rarely use gray for bracelets, so I’m happy that I finally tried something new.
This bracelet is for my awesome friend, Sarah! We went to the same high school, but I feel like we didn’t become close until we hung out a lot in college together. I feel like this is supposed to be her very late birthday present (sorry about that!), so happy belated birthday Sarah!

name: Ombre diamonds
number of strings: 12
pattern from: http://friendship-bracelets.net/pattern.php?id=74870

The pattern is supposed to be three connected diamonds on top of a stripe background. I’m a little worried that some of the diamonds are hard to see, but I think the pattern still looks cool.

My spring 2014 semester was pretty busy, which is why I haven’t posted a bracelet in a while. One reason I did not have as much time to make friendship bracelets is I decided to become more involved in college organizations. I decided to pledge Alpha Chi Sigma, the professional chemistry fraternity, because I enjoyed my organic chemistry class a lot and wanted to continue exploring the field of chemistry. Most of all, I wanted to find a group of people that I could hang out with and become close with, and that’s exactly what happened. In the few months I have gotten to know the members of ΑΧΣ, I feel like I truly belong to a family now, and I am proud to call them my brothers.
One person I feel like I’ve gotten to know the best is my big, Eric. I’m so glad he was paired up to be my big because we share many similar life experiences, which makes it easier for us to understand each other. He is basically the big brother I’ve always wanted =]
At the beginning of the semester, I promised him that I would make him an ΑΧΣ bracelet, and I finally found time to design one.
name: ΑΧΣ (aka Alpha Chi Sigma)
number of strings: 11
So far, I have made two of these bracelets: one for Eric, and one for me. I will make a third bracelet that I will give to my future little. We will be the only people in the ΑΧΣ family to have these bracelets =]

I’m so excited that this is my first bracelet of 2014! I left most of my good-colored string in college, so I made use of the string I had at home. I usually don’t use yellow or green in my bracelets, so I decided to experiment with those two colors. I guess the outcome wasn’t so bad :P
This bracelet is for my awesome college buddy Ricco!

name: tri-colored rag rug
number of strings: 12
The color scheme reminds me of lemons and limes or ripe and unripe bananas.

“You are my fire, the one desire, believe when I say I want it that way.” It’s a song that I’ve fallen in love with during my first semester at college after the Bowlesmen sang “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys at the first serenade. Attending so many activities in college has not given me a lot of free time to work on friendship bracelets, so I’m sorry for not posting in a while. My New Year’s resolution is to make bracelets for the amazing friends I have met during my first year in college!
This bracelet is for someone who means so much to me and whom I’ve developed a strong relationship with. It’s safe to say that he is definitely my fire =]

I’ve only been in college for seven weeks, and I’ve already experienced many memorable “firsts”: the first midterm I failed; my first frat party; the first time I skipped class just so I could get froyo; my first college crush; the very first time I watched “Mean Girls”; my first all-nighter; the first time I got locked out of my room; my first time back on the ice in six months; my first late night, etc. The list is extremely long.
But the one “first” I’ll definitely remember is finally making my first friendship bracelet in college! It’s been a lot of working adjusting to college life, and now that midterm season has ended for me, I have some free time to relax a little and work on a few bracelets.
This one is for my amazing friend Kevin whom I met in computer science class =]

“It’s perfect.”
He asked for burgundy, I gave him purple. Close enough.

Tomorrow is the day I move into my college dorm. I’m more excited than nervous because I did summer sessions at UC Berkeley (my new home!), so I already got a small taste of college. I can’t wait to take hard classes (organic chemistry >.<) and hopefully pass, meet lots of amazing people, and learn a lot in the next four years!

Because I will be encountering this rivalry often, I made a bracelet with the Stanford University logo (left) and a keychain that says “Cal” in blue and gold (right). The bracelet is for my friend Yiwen who may or may not be a Cal student ;]

Pattern #1

name: Stanford

number of strings: 15

I almost ran out of white string, so the last S was a pain to make Dx

Pattern #2

name: Cal

number of strings: 24

I wanted to start this bracelet earlier in August, but because of bad planning, I didn’t have enough dark blue string. I had to wait a few days to get back home and buy more string.

I’m always hesitant whenever I attempt to make a bracelet with 12+ strings. Preparing to make the bracelet (cutting the string and organizing them to fit the pattern) is tedious, and by the time I actually start, the first few rows are unsatisfactory. Thankfully, I continued with this bracelet and am pretty happy with the outcome, even though some parts are a little skewed.
This is probably the last bracelet I’ll make during my summer classes before I start real school! My eight weeks in summer sessions has been amazing, and I can’t wait to continue making new friends and attending more classes in the future.
This bracelet is for my new friend, Elijah, and I met him through my roommate!

name: rainbow tribal
number of strings: 16
Like my last bracelet, this one also reminds me of candy, specifically hershey kisses combined with skittles!

During the summer of 2011, I attended a global health class at UC San Diego Academic Connections. Our class took a field trip to the Self Realization Meditation Gardens, and I was lucky to stumble upon a special purple necklace. It had a tag attached to it that said, “For the finder … this is a gift of love. Enjoy!”
The unexpected gift touched my heart, and knew I wanted to pass the love on to the next lucky person. The past bracelets I’ve made have been for specific people, but this time, I’m leaving it up to fate to decide who gets this bracelet. On July 26, 2013, almost exactly two years later, I left one of my bracelets in a random place at UC Berkeley. I hope the finder doesn’t mind the extremely flashy colors and will wear it forever. Hopefully he or she will pass on the love afterwards.

When I was a kid, one of my favorite Disney movies was Toy Story, and for some reason, I really liked Buzz Lightyear. His famous catchphrase, “To infinity … and beyond!” always stuck with me, and I was inspired to do a bracelet with the infinity symbol. I’m not sure what inspired the rainbow background, but I needed something that could contrast the black well.

name: Infinity

number of strings: 10
It’s really hard to make round patterns on friendship bracelets, and as you can see, some of the infinity signs don’t exactly make a full figure eight shape.

When I woke up today, my roommate left an amazing birthday present for me on my desk. She made a friendship bracelet and bought SO MUCH string for me! Even though I love to make friendship bracelets, I actually don’t wear them often unless they are very special (like this one!).
This is the first bracelet I’m featuring on my blog KNOT made by me, and I hope you like it as much as I do. Yes, it’s a simple bracelet, but in my opinion, the best bracelets are not the ones with the most intricate patterns. They are the ones that are made with the most love.
